The European strategy toward reducing CO2 emissions is leading to a growing demand for lightweighting across industries, especially these days for the automotive industry and electric vehicles. To reach these goals, development and use of materials that have a higher strength-to-weight ratio, while staying cost-efficient in production, compared to the ones currently used is a necessity.
Through NetCastPL4.0 Networking Pillar idea-camps at foundries with the participation of students and researchers stimulate interactions between the various actors in the foundry supply chain. These sessions aim to identify and analyse new initiatives in the production of thin sections, new industrial, commercial and professional mode.
The first workshop in the series: Lightweighting casting innovations: Green Processes in Foundry 4.0 practice of Light-Weight Castings, brings people together at both company sites and at the AGH University of Krakow.
The companies hosting the first day of the workshop are part of the NetCastPL4.0 partner network:
Companies Consolidated Precision Products and Zakład Metalurgiczny „WSK Rzeszów” Ltd. , members of the NetCastPL4.0 network of excellence will engage in cross-fertilization with academics, students and industries.
