NetCastPL4.0 at the National Materials Engineering Day 2026

On 27 March 2026, the fourth edition of the National Materials Engineering Day (ODIM 2026) took place under the theme “Space Materials”.

ODIM is an event primarily aimed at secondary school students, with the objective of promoting materials engineering through lectures, demonstrations, workshops and laboratory sessions. This year’s edition brought together 20 scientific institutions from 13 cities across Poland, including one of the country’s leading technical universities – the AGH University of Kraków.

A distinctive element of this year’s event was an attempt to set a Polish record in the category of “The highest number of origami rockets folded within four hours”. In line with the main theme, the event also highlighted the crucial role of materials engineering in the development of modern technologies, including solutions used in the space sector.

The NetCastPL4.0 project participated in the initiative for the second time, organising two of the seven demonstrations delivered at the Faculty of Foundry Engineering at AGH. The following presentations were prepared for students:

  1. Mordyl – “The Space Engineers’ Sandbox – testing the properties of moulding sands”
  2. Marosz – “The spoon that disappears in tea – extraordinary materials for space technologies”

As part of ODIM 2026, AGH hosted over 500 students, more than 80 of whom took part in the demonstrations organised by NetCastPL4.0.

Year by year, a growing level of interest in both the event and the project’s activities can be observed. The NetCastPL4.0 has already confirmed its participation in the next edition.
